THREE FOR TEAM FOUR IN IRON DOG
Vernon and Kyle starting engines, Ruby 2-26
Sat. 2-26-11 Ruby
Here I am with my sister Katrina and nephew Sheldon watching my brother Vernon and his partner Kyle on Team # 4 of Iron Dog Snowmachine race take off from Ruby to finish in Fairbanks. Days of bad weather and the other night my brother and Kyle were the lead sno-go racers to plow thru incredible winds and snowstorm just like they had coming into Nome. The total miles of race is over 2,000 miles with a few layovers. Go Bro!
Only updating to add current photos every now and then! I started this blog to keep in contact with relatives and friends. Please make comments and email me! I was raised to age 12 in Alaska's Interior along the Yukon River. I left then to enter a public high school in Lake Placid, NY and live with my Uncle Mike. A year later, my mom joined me so I could obtain a more challenging education. My sister Katrina attends school in Ruby in a multi-grade class. So do my nephews. My dad is a Koyukon Athabascan Indian and my mom is Caucasian. We have a subsistence lifestyle and my dad makes traditional Native crafts like fish wheels and dog team sleds. He is nationally recognized Master Native Snowshoe Craftsman (see Albertsnowshoes Blog).I like to snowshoe, run, draw with pencil, explore the woods and computer games and meet all kinds of new people.
