Found this at his NY school library photo site. It shows Birk looking unusually glum. Only because they had to wear their costume in school, and it probably didn't seem so hip then. Especially with all the girls around. He cheered up during the Trick or Treat phase. Ann drove his hobo hoarding butt around the best neighborhoods for sugary bounty.Mom sees all.

I was raised to age 12 in Alaska's Interior along the Yukon River. I left then to enter a public high school in Lake Placid, NY and live with my Uncle Mike. A year later, my mom joined me so I could obtain a more challenging education. My sister Katrina attends school in Ruby in a multi-grade class.So do my nephews. My dad is a Koyukon Athabascan Indian and my mom is Caucasian. We have a subsistence lifestyle and my dad makes traditional Native crafts like fish wheels and dog team sleds.He is nationally recognized Master Native Snowshoe Craftsman (see Albertsnowshoes Blog).I like to snowshoe, run, draw with pencil, explore the woods and computer games and meet all kinds of new people.
